Man Utd make record breaking bid for "new Roy Keane"
Paul Pogba is again being linked with a £60m move to Manchester United, yet Real Madrid are still believed to be favourites to land the French midfielder.
Pogba's links with United have rarely subsided since he left Old Trafford after a fall-out between his agent and the club's manager Alex Ferguson back in 2012, with his rise to stardom at Juventus sparking rumours of a mega-money move back to Manchester.
Man City and Chelsea have also been linked with a move for Pogba, yet it is Real Madrid who believe they are in pole position to land a player who is hoping to be the face of Euro 2016 on home soil with France.
Real Madrid President Florentino Perez has confirmed he is interested in brining Pogba to the Spanish capital this summer, even though he admits his arrival may mean an exit for one of the players who just helped his club to win the Champions League title for an 11th time.
“I am in love with the best players and Pogba is among them," stated Perez, as he spoke about the combative midfielder who has been compared to Man Utd and Ireland legend Roy Keane.
“He’s young, strong and he is already one of the best midfielders out there. I have to admit it, Pogba is exciting, but it is always difficult to negotiate when there is no release clause.
“Real Madrid, however, already have great midfielders and it is difficult to improve this team.”
Perez's eagerness to add a new marquee name to his team's roster each summer and Pogba's hints that he would relish the chance to become Real Madrid's next Galacticos suggests the dream move may eventually be finalised.
Pogba has also suggested he is not keen to make a return to Man Utd after his first spell at the club ended in less than satisfactory fashion.
Yet the presence of Jose Mourinho as the new United manager may be a lure for many players this summer, even though the Old Trafford club cannot offer Champions League football next season.
