Man Utd fans will not enjoy these alarming statistics
They say statistics don't lie and when it comes to Premier League football this season, they don't make for pretty viewing for Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal.
Van Gaal's has often suggested he has been pleased by his team's ability to dominate possession in games, but it is their lack of attacking intend that has infuriated many this season.
The Van Gaal philosophy is not popular with a growing section of the United support and they will be even more alarmed when they see these statistics offered up by Sky Sports.
United's position at the bottom of the list for Premier League teams making forward passes backs up the theory that Van Gaal is a promoter of negative football, while the percentage of passes in the final third is also alarming.
Animosity towards Van Gaal will gather in momentum if his side are dumped out of the Champions League at Wolfsburg on Tuesday night and the Dutchman admits he faces a huge challenge in Germany.
"When you are creating chances at the end you shall finish those kind of chances," stated Van Gaal in his pre-match press conference.
"That's why we have that belief. It's a matter of time and I hope we can prove it against Wolfsburg."
Van Gaal offered these words of encouragement to Man Utd fans after Saturday's 0-0 draw against West Ham. His confidence seems to be untouched:
