Manchester United fans react as Ousmane Dembele leaves Marcos Rojo on his backside
Manchester United were soundly beaten on their first outing in China as Borussia Dortmund put four past Jose Mourinho's men.
Dortmund racked up a comfortable win against Man United in China today, as the Red Devils succumbed to a 4-1 defeat.
Goals from Gonzalo Castro, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (penalty) and Ousmane Dembele put Die Borussen three ahead with less than 60 minutes played.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan, signed from the Bundesliga side earlier this month, replied just before the hour mark but it was only a consolation for the Red Devils as Castro added his second, and Dortmund's fourth, four minutes from time.
It was Dembele's goal which caused particular anger among United fans around the globe.
Marcos Rojo, playing at centre-half in the second period after replacing Phil Jones, was the man who caused the fury.
The defender, generally deployed as a full-back during his United career, had already been the source of ire for fans after reports emerged this week that the club had rejected a bid for the player.
That ire turned to real anger after Dortmund's young striker put the Argentinean on his arse before scoring an excellent goal:
Wow wow wow Ousmane Dembele is legit. Amazing goal vs Man Utd. https://t.co/UafTHwwvfQ— Cristian Nyari (@CrisNyari) July 22, 2016
Fans and pundits alike were quick to lambast the hapless Rojo:
Can we just leave Rojo and Jones in China pls— ㅤ (@MartialTheMan) July 22, 2016
Jesus. Put Rojo on his backside and then had the keeper admiring the ball into the net. That's disgusting.— Joseph Cousins (@JCuzzy1) July 22, 2016
Really like Bailly, very reliable. The kind of guy you'd bring to Vegas. As for Rojo, I'd feel safer if Ted Bundy was my uber driver.— Pilib de Brún (@Malachians) July 22, 2016
Marcos Rojo is not a real footballer.— Liam Canning (@OffsideLiam) July 22, 2016
Dembele has just stolen Marcos Rojo's soul... https://t.co/Gh8KCEjl7s— HLTCO (@HLTCO) July 22, 2016
I'd rather sh*t in my hands and clap than have Marcos Rojo in my defence 😂 pic.twitter.com/Tg3ao0K2nE— Free Bets (@freebetscouk) July 22, 2016
Wow. That was sensational from Dembele. Rojo made to look like a schoolboy, that's him gone.— Hashbrown (@hesham786) July 22, 2016
When you see Rojo, Valencia a,Jones being part of our defense pic.twitter.com/Ub501RKk8v— SemperFiUnited (@SemperFiUnited) July 22, 2016
I don't know why Mou hasn't thrown Rojo away. Uselessness personified.— Yemi (@Babygiwa) July 22, 2016
Now let's get rid of Lingard,Blackett,Jones,Young,Rojo,Fellaini— Pulse Akoto (@eastsportsman) July 20, 2016
Will Mourinho listen to the fans or will Rojo still be in the squad come September?
