Manchester United battling Chelsea in bid to secure highly-rated midfielder's signature
Portugal midfielder Andre Gomes is hot property in Premier League circles, as United face a battle with Jose Mourinho's former club Chelsea to secure the Valencia man's services.
Valencia star Andre Gomes continues to be linked with a move to Manchester United.
The Portugal international both scored and assisted three times as Valencia finished 12th in La Liga this season.
Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo suggests that United will reignite their interest in Gomes following a Chelsea bid for the player, according to footballfancast.com.
Sky Sports previously reported that Valencia had turned down a £32million Chelsea bid for the midfielder, who is thought to be valued by his club at closer to the £40million-£45million mark.
Recent comments suggest that the 22-year-old might be tempted to link up with new Old Trafford boss Mourinho.
Gomes offered up these views on his links with United before setting off on a Euro 2016 campaign with Portugal, in which he assisted Nani's goal in the country's opening 1-1 draw against Iceland.
"Mourinho is a great coach, there is no doubt about that, but for now my future is left to one side," he stated.
"I am not at all concerned with what will happen after the European Championship, I look forward to the tournament starting."
Mourinho is believed to be a big admirer of Gomes, although he did state previously that he didn't expect to sign any Portuguese players following his move to United.
