Manchester United are willing to splash a huge amount of cash just to get Bastian Schweinsteiger off their books, according to reports.

The Sun reports that Old Trafford chiefs are prepared to pay an eye-watering £10m to make sure that the German World Cup winner is sent packing in the upcoming transfer window.

The 32-year-old still has two years left on his £180k a week deal but it is clear that Jose Mourinho has no use for the former Bayern Munich star.

Schweinsteiger was brought back into first team training this week but Mourinho only made that decision in a bid to raise the player's fitness levels in preparation for selling him.

The paper suggests a move to the US or China could be on the cards, with United ready to hand him a £10m payoff to ensure he leaves in January.

Some fans still question whether the midfielder deserves another shot to make the team, who continue to struggle.

Last night the Red Devils lost 2-1 to Fenerbahce in the Europa League in a performance that was blasted by Mourinho.
