Manchester City have been drawn against Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

The mouth-watering clash with see Manuel Pellegrini's men take on Cristiano Ronaldo and his Real Madrid superstars in what will be the biggest European tie ever played by City.

Their first Champions League semi-final could not be a more enticing affair, with the first leg set to take place at the Etihad Stadium.

City were spared a meeting with Bayern Munich, which would have set up the prospect of the coach who will take over from Manuel Pellegrini at City next summer taking on his future employers.

That prospect is still possible in what would be a remarkable Final in Milan next month, after Bayern were drawn against Atletico Madrid in the other semi-final.

The dates for the semi-final fixtures have been confirmed:

First legs:

26 April: Manchester City v Real Madrid

27 April: Atletico Madrid v Bayern Munich

Second legs:

3 May: Bayern Munich v Atletico Madrid

4 May: Real Madrid v Manchester City
