Luke Shaw is closing in on a return to first team action with Manchester United, as he prepares to make a return to training following his horrific double leg break in September.

As sundayworld.com revealed earlier this month, Shaw has been making good progress in his battle to play again this season and it has now emerged that he is preparing to make a return to training in early April.

Shaw offered up this excited tweet as he prepares to step up his recovery, with a return to action coming as a timely boost to United as they look to end a troubled season on a high.

There were fears that Shaw would be out for the rest of this campaign as he was left in agony during United's Champions League game against PSV Eindhoven, with the injury putting a halt on his highly promising start to this season.

Yet there is still a chance that Shaw could play a big role in United's FA Cup campaign and their bid to secure a top four finish in the Premier League.

He may also be eyeing up a late push to break in to England's Euro 2016 plans, with United boss Louis van Gaal suggesting Shaw may end his nightmare few months by playing in the FA Cup final at Wembley.
