Liverpool were in talks to sign Shakhtar Donetsk star Alex Teixeira last month, but they have been outbid in the race to sign the Brazilian star by Chinese club Jiangsu Suning.

After Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp described the asking price for Teixeira as 'Disneyland money', it has now been revealed that the free-spending Chinese league has snared another marquee name.

The €50m asking price was too much for Liverpool to pay in the recent transfer window, but Jiangsu Suning appear to have money to burn as they look set to add Teixeira to the lavish £25m capture of Chelsea star Ramires last week.

The club manager by former Chelsea star Dan Petrescu are offering the kind of transfer fees and wages that is allowing then to out-bid many of Europe's top clubs for the best talent in the game, with Shakhtar confirming their asking price has been met for Teixeira.

"We have agreed to sell Alex Teixeira to China," Shakhtar Donetsk boss Mircea Lucescu told ESPN. "It's all confirmed on our side."

This latest statement signing by a Chinese league club adds to the suspicion that they will look to snap up more big name European players in the coming months, with Fernando Torres and John Terry among those being linked with mega money moves to the Far East.
