Fresh off a thrilling win over Arsenal, Jurgen Klopp could be about to add another attacking midfielder to his squad.

Liverpool are close to securing a loan deal for highly-rated Norway international Martin Odegaard.

The 17-year-old player plays primarily for the Real Madrid's B side, Castilla.

The Galacticos are looking to loan out the attacking midfielder this season so he can gain first-team experience.

Reports suggest that the Reds are in pole position to land Odegaard for the coming season.

According to the Telegraph, a Real Madrid source told French publication Ouest France:

"The board would like to, ideally, close the transaction within 48 hours.

"This will be a loan without option to buy, Real paid €4million to Stromsgodset for his arrival (€8.5million with bonus) and don't intend to abdicate of the idea of seeing him shine one day so quickly.

"There are a dozen offers on the table, including of a club from La Liga, plus the English from West Ham and Liverpool, German clubs (Leverkusen, Hamburg) and Ajax Amsterdam.

"In recent hours, Stade Rennais showed up and are well positioned. Initially, Martin preferred Germany, but Zidane will choose."

Liverpool picked up three points on the Premier League's opening weekend with a thrilling 4-3 win away to Arsenal.

Klopp has no shortage of attacking midfield players at his disposal, having signed Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum this summer to complement the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Adam Lallana and younster Sheyi Ojo.
