Less than 24 hours after Joe Gomez was ruled out for the season, Liverpool have now lost another first-team squad player as Danny Ings is reported to have also suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury.

Ings, 23, was signed from Burnley this summer and had settled in well at Anfield.

So impressive had he been for the Reds that he had earned his first England cap this week.

Ings suffered the injury on his first training session back from international duty in what is being reported as an innocuous challenge.

The ACL injury, which is the exact same one that struck full back Gomez on Tuesday, will keep Ings sidelined for between six and nine months meaning his season is almost certainly over.

This second serious injury in two days is a blow to new boss Jurgen Klopp before he has even taken charge of his first game.

And, with the transfer window closed until January, the German will now have to try and work with a reduced pool of players for his first few months in the Premier League.
