Liverpool ace sent for scan as doubts grow over his fitness for the weekend
Jurgen Klopp and all Liverpool fans face an anxious wait to see if star man Philippe Coutinho will be fit to play at Southampton this weekend.
The Brazilian international only returned from South America on Wednesday night after playing in a game against Peru.
According to the Mail Coutinho did not train with the Liverpool squad at Melwood on Thursday and was instead sent to a private hospital for a scan.
The paper doesn't report on any specific injury but the move does suggest he may be a doubt for the clash against the Saints on Saturday.
Coutinho has been sensational for the Reds this season and with Adam Lallana definitely out of the game against his old club after picking up an injury for England against Spain, the Brazilian's absence would be a blow to Klopp and Liverpool.
Speaking about Coutinho future at Anfield earlier today the German manager said: "First of all before we talk about money we have to create an atmosphere in and around the club where no-one wants to leave.
"At this moment I am not worried about anything. The players like to be here and it is our job to make sure it stays like this.
"My opinion is that he feels really well here. We all hope and think that his future is here at Liverpool.
"But everyone forgets when you think about Phil is he is still very young. He is 24 so he is still young and has a long way to go and a lot of space for improvement and development.
"He is now at an age where the skills, in a mixture with his experience, gives you more consistency.
"With the team-mates he has around him it is getting better and better.
"I am sure he has only started and that is all good."
