Jose Mourinho lashes out at media over Chris Smalling injury rumours
The Manchester United manager refused to be drawn on the extent of the centre-half's injury at his press conference today.
United take on Arsenal at Old Trafford tomorrow afternoon in a 12.30pm kick-off.
Speaking to the media at his press conference today, the former Chelsea boss raged at press 'sources' after reports suggested the England defender had a broken toe.
This news emerged after Mourinho had criticised Smalling and Luke Shaw for failing to make themselves available for United's last Premier League tie away to Swansea.
"Chris Smalling you cannot ask because you have your sources, you trust your sources, you believe what your sources tell you and you did that for 15 days so now you are not going to ask me to comment on your sources.
"So on Chris Smalling I don't comment, you have your trustful relationship with your sources, you wrote, you spoke, you comment, you criticise, I don't say a word.
"You do the big headlines with your sources and now I'm not interested."
A week ago it was believed that the reported toe injury would keep Smalling sidelined for a month, though with no confirmation from the manager it seems United fans will be kept waiting on any news of the centre-back's return.
Meanwhile, Luke Shaw is fit for tomorrow's showdown, Eric Bailly is still recovering from a serious knee injury and Antonio Valencia is unlikely to feature after a recent operation on a broken arm.
