The misery of Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has been compounded by confirmation that the Football Association have handed him a one-match stadium ban and a £40,000 fine.

Mourinho has been punished by the FA for his persistent offences before, during and after matches, the latest of which came as he was sent to the stands by referee Jonathan Moss in his side's 2-1 defeat at West Ham last month.

The FA released this statement on Monday evening, with the punishment meaning Mourinho will not be allowed to attend his side's game at Stoke this weekend:

Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today, Jose Mourinho has been given a one-match stadium suspension with immediate effect and fined £40,000.

The Chelsea manager admitted an FA charge of misconduct regarding his language and/or behaviour towards the match officials in or around the dressing room area during half-time of the game against West Ham United on 24 October 2015.

With regard to Chelsea coach Silvino Louro, who denied an FA misconduct charge in relation to the same game, The FA, having considered further representation, withdrew the formal charge of improper conduct but reminded him of his responsibilities.

Mourinho is certain to be furious with his latest punishment, with pressure mounting on the Chelsea boss after his side's disastrous start to the season.

Amid reports that his players have turned against him, Chelsea's owners will not have to defend their manager's latest disciplinary issues on a day when it was confirmed he is also the subject individual legal action from former Chelsea team doctor Eva Carneiro.

Mourinho has been named in legal papers filed by Carneiro's advisers, who are also suing Chelsea for constructive dismissal.

It remains to be seen how much longer the farce Mourinho is orchestrating at Chelsea will be allowed to continue, with Wednesday night's Champions League game against Dynamo Kiev the latest game he dare not lose as he aims to cling on to his job.
