Ireland Euro 2016 star touted by club legend as solution to crisis area in Liverpool squad

LIVERPOOL could do worse than recruiting the star of Ireland's Euro 2016 campaign to fill a glaring hole in their squad.

Robbie Brady caught all Irish eyes in France this summer and, while he may not be the ideal solution to Liverpool’s problem left-back slot, I would have no problem if Reds manager Jurgen Klopp took the Dubliner to Anfield this summer.

Brady may not be the best left-back in the game, but his improvement at international level has been exceptional, and he would also bring a vital additional quality.

It was glaringly evident that Liverpool were lacking a set-piece expert throughout last season and Brady has the ability to knock a great ball into the box – he is also a threat breaking from his full-back slot.

I posted a message on my Twitter account during Euro 2016 suggesting Brady could be an option for Liverpool in the transfer market and it’s fair to say the responses that came my way were far from positive.

Yet in a market that is full of over-priced players, Liverpool could end up signing a defender that is no better than what they already have.

So I would be tempted to get Brady in as he will not need time to settle and will do a decent job.

In an ideal world, Klopp would bring in a proven left-back who has international experience, but he would have done that by now if there were plenty to sign out there.

In a market where everyone is over-priced, it must be tricky to sign good players, but Brady is an option if Klopp needs to make a signing in the next couple of weeks.

I know he has suggested James Milner could be an option in that full-back role, but we can see it is a problem area because Alberto Moreno is struggling and may need to take a step back and develop more before he is used as a regular in the team.

I'm optimistic about Liverpool's prospects for this season, but the left back problem needs to be solved if they are to realise the potential in this revamped team.
