The duo were stunned into silence when a Sky Sports interviewer asked them to take the Man of the Match award to Eric Bailly.

Manchester United put three goals past Bournemouth yesterday to record an opening Premier League weekend win.

Ibrahimovic marked his Premier League debut with a goal as Jose Mourinho's United tenure began with a convincing 3-1 victory.

The match was Mourinho's first Premier League game in charge of United but nevertheless Ibrahimovic arrived as the star attraction on the south coast and the Swede did not disappoint, unleashing a superb long-range strike in the second half. He has now scored on debut in Serie A, LaLiga, Ligue 1 and the Champions League.

Juan Mata and Rooney's goals had earlier put United in command before Bournemouth defender Adam Smith added what proved only to be a consolation.

Having both scored, the two elderly statesmen of the United squad were interviewed by a Sky reporter following the game.

The two players were equally stunned when their interviewer asked them to hand Eric Bailly the man-of-the-match award on their return to the dressing room.

Zlatan's bemusement is evident while Rooney really thinks he deserved the award:

Not in agreement with the broadcaster's decision, then.

There will be serious anticipation around Bailly's first interview in English football to find out whether Rooney passed the gong on or did actually claim it for himself.
