New Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has served up a sly dig at locals rivals Manchester United in a jovial interview conducted by Noel Gallagher.

Rock star Gallagher is a huge City fan and after his previous success in interviewing Mario Balotelli during his time in Manchester, the former Oasis star has now taken a chance to quiz Guardiola.

In a wide ranging chat that touched on a host of topics, Guardiola didn’t miss the chance to smirk at United’s failure to secure a place in this season’s Champions League.

Gallagher asked Guardiola whether he was concerned by City’s need to play a qualifying round to get through to the group stages of Europe’s elite competition, but he simply laughed at the prospect.

“We are not in Champions League, we have to make that clear,” stated Guardiola. “That situation is now, in that moment, much better than Manchester United.”

Guardiola also spoke about his potential clashes with new United manager Jose Mourinho and you can watch the full version of the riveting interview here:
