It was supposed to be a done deal but today's rumour mill suggests that Jose Mourinho may have a rival for the job still held by Louis van Gaal.

For what seems like months it has been widely reported that the Dutchman would be turfed out of the Old Trafford dug out and that the Manchester United gaffer next season would be Jose Mourinho.

That may still happen of course but today's Sun suggests that United's executive vice chairman Ed Woodward has been keeping an eye on Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentinian did a super job at Southampton and he is now guiding Spurs to a serious push for the Premier League title.

That has meant that while Jose is still the favourite to take the reins next season, the paper say that Pochettino is 'emerging as a more serious alternative'.

Away from the sideline and back on the field it is reported today that Stoke will make a £20million bid for West Brom striker Saido Berahino in the summer. The Potters tried to sign the wantaway striker in January and the Mirror are reporting that they will renew that interest.

Anyone wanting to sign ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC in the summer will have to pay £600,000 a week, reports the Daily Express. The Sweden international is expected to leave Paris St Germain in the summer, with Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and West Ham all interested.

The Sun are reporting that Manchester City have been put on red alert with news of LIONEL MESSI'S contract talks at Barcelona stalling. A new deal is thought to be some way off at the Nou Camp and new City boss Pep Guardiola is keen to renew his relationship with the super star.

HENRIKH MKHITARYAN could be heading to Arsenal in the summer, report the Guardian. The Borussia Dortmund midfielder is considering a move to the Emirates Stadium after the Gunners showed an interest.

However, considering today's date, who knows what to believe today in the world of football.
