Gary Neville has selected his Manchester United five-a-side dream team, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Roy Keane among his top picks.

Keane played alongside Neville during United's glory years under Alex Ferguson and when asked by students at the Oxford Union to pick the top four players he played with at Old Trafford, he had no hesitation in naming Keane, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Neville also reflected on his glory years at United and the influence his former manager Alex Ferguson had on his player, while also suggesting the patience the club showed in him after his troubled start to life as the club's manager is a model that should be followed now.

Ferguson was under huge pressure after a slow start to life at United, but the trophies began to roll in after his first trophy success in 1990 and he offered up this assessment of the most successful manager of them all.

"Ferguson was given time and the opportunity to grow and stabilise the club when he came," stated Neville. "United floundering was always going to happen after Ferguson. The control over the club and the aura he has about him left a void."

Neville urged United to back current boss Jose Mourinho after his difficult start to life as the club's manager and he also picked an intriguing first choice United team, that did not feature Zlatan Ibrahimovic or club captain Wayne Rooney.

He also backed United youngsters Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford to shine under Mourinho, as he insisted homegrown talent should always be included in a United line-up.
