Gary Neville trolls Wayne Rooney over England loss to Iceland

The former Manchester United defender had a hilarious poke at the England captain on Twitter.

Rooney is currently on international duty with England ahead of their World Cup qualifiers against Malta and Slovenia.

With the home clash against Malta not kicking off until 5pm on Saturday, the United captain and his international teammates are on the golf course:

Rooney was apparently clad in Neville's golf shoes, which just happen to be Nike.

The Sky Sports pundit didn't miss a trick with the response to his former clubmate:

England, with Neville as assistant manager, were famously knocked out of Euro 2016 at the round of 16 stage by minnows Iceland in a 2-1 defeat which saw Rooney perform extremely poorly.

Roy Hodgson, Neville and the management team all lost their positions in the England setup following the Three Lions' dismal exit from the Euros.
