L'Equipe are reporting this evening that the outgoing Bayern Munich boss met with Manchester United officials last week.

The short report claims that the Spaniard met with officials from the Red Devils at the slick Le Bristol Hotel in Paris.

They say the information comes from French football journalist Thierry Marchand.

Up to now, and as the article points out, it has long been suspected that Manchester City led the race to snap up the services of the coveted former Barca boss.

The bookies agree, with the Citizens priced at 1/5 with Ladbrokes to be Guardiola's next job.

Manchester United, along with Arsenal, are priced at 8/1.

Louis van Gaal is still in the Old Trafford hot seat and the Dutchman is scheduled to be there until the end of the 2017 season.

However, there is growing unhappiness among Manchester United fans with the style of football he plays and with the most coveted manager in the game available this summer, many United fans will be hoping their club at least tries to bring in the hugely succesful Spaniard.
