Felipe Luis leaves Chelsea after unsuccessful season
The full back returns to Atletico Madrid where the English club purchased him last summer.
Filipe Luís has been sold back to Atlético Madrid after the clubs agreed terms over a permanent transfer.
Chelsea defender Felipe Luis has left the club to rejoin Atletico Madrid, after the clubs agreed a fee.
The 29 year old full back signed for £20 million this time last year, and played 26 times for the side, but didn’t enjoy a particularly successful time at Stamford Bridge.
Prior to signing with the blues, Luis won La Liga with the Spanish giants, and also reached the Champions League final.
Chelsea are believed to have received £16 in return for the transfer of the defender, and in relation to a replacement, they have been heavily linked with Augsburg wing-back Abdul Baba Rahman, who is valued at around £17 million pounds.
Through an official statement, Chelsea said of Filipe Luís: “We wish him all the best for the future.”
