Falcao plays for Man Utd under-21 team
Radamel Falcao's Manchester United misery continued on Tuesday night as he played for the club's under-21 side in a bid to prove his worth to boss Louis van Gaal.
Falcao was an unused substitute as United crashed out of the FA Cup against Arsenal on Monday night, which appeared to confirm he does not have the trust of boss Van Gaal.
The United manager then clashed with reporters who were pushing him on the future of the on-loan Monaco striker after the game, with tension over his position at the Old Trafford club festering for several months now.
A £43.5m deal is in place to make Falcao's move to United permanent, but the green light on that deal has to be given by Van Gaal and that seems increasingly unlikely given the events of recent weeks.
Falcao has struggled to make his mark at United and has scored just four Premier League goals, with his appearance in an under-21 side also featuring Champions League winner Victor Valdes the latest blow to his hopes of a long-term future at United.
His agent has already hinted that Falcao has plenty of options other than United as he makes his next career move, with the chances of Van Gaal rubber-stamping his move to Manchester now appearing to be highly improbable.
Falcao played 72 minutes against Tottenham's under-21 side and failed to score in a game that finished 1-1.
