Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has ordered his transfer guru Ed Woodward to launch one final push to try and land chief transfer target Gareth Bale.

Van Gaal has made Real Madrid superstar Bale his No.1 priority in the transfer market since his arrival at Old Trafford last summer and now United are preparing a world record £100m bid to land the Welshman.

Ken Lawrence's back page exclusive in tomorrow's Sunday World reveals United insiders have confirmed they are going to do all they can to try and prize Bale out of Real Madrid with a mega money bid in the final week of the transfer window.

While the Spanish giants have insisted they have no intention of selling Bale this summer, United are refusing to take no for an answer as they continue to haggle with Real Madrid to sign the winger they signed from Tottenham in the summer of 2013 for £86m.

United are determined to win a battle of wills with Real Madrid in the long-running war over the future of goal keeper David De Gea and they are now viewing Bale as the player they want out of the deal after failing in a push to sign defender Sergio Ramos.

The leaks from United over Bale suggest Woodward is still setting his transfer sights high, in a week when he has come under fire following United's failed attempt to sign Pedro from Barcelona.
