Di Maria handed deadline to decide Man Utd future
Angel Di Maria has been given a deadline to decide whether he wants to stay at Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain boss Laurent Blanc has hinted that his club will face competition to sign the Argentine winger if he does decide to leave.
United manager Louis van Gaal has spoken to Di Maria in recent days admitted that “a process is underway” that will end with a decision over the future of his £59.7m signing.
Now Van Gaal has asked Di Maria to make a decision his future before he is due to take his place on United’s tour of America on July 25th, amid persistent suggestions that the British record signing and his wife have struggled to settle in England.
Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain coach Blanc has suggested that his club is not alone in waiting on the decision from Di Maria over his future, as he expects he would be part of a bidding war for the ex-Real Madrid star.
“The case of Di Maria is very complicated because he is a player who plays for a very, very big English club,” Blanc said.
“If eventually the player left, one can presume that other big clubs would also be interested in him.”
Meanwhile, Italian international Thiago Motta looks set to leave PSG after telling his employers that he wants to seal a move back to his former club Inter Milan.
Blanc will not pick Motta for his team during their pre-season matches, after he confirmed he wants to be allowed to make a move back to Italy.
“We are aware of Thiago’s position, it was clearly expressed,” Blanc was quoted in L’Equipe “That of the club was also expressed very clearly.
“For the moment, they are incompatible. Thiago Motta will not be playing because he is not in the best frame of mind to do so.
“I hope that this situation will progress in the right direction because I have a lot of admiration for this player. And this situation cannot go on forever."
