Matteo Darmian is set to complete what he describes as his 'dream' move to Manchester United after he jettied into the UK to complete the €18m transfer.

The Italian international is set to be confirmed as United's second major signing of the summer, as Louis van Gaal finally added to the addition of Memphis Depay as he prepares for the club's pre-season tour of America.

Darmian spoke to Sky Italia before he boarded a plane bounce for Manchester, as he spoke about his delight at sealing the transfer.

"It's very emotional," he said. "I'm looking forward to this new adventure. It's certainly a dream.

"I'm superstitious so I'm not going to say anything more. Let's wait until I get there then we'll see."

Meanwhile, United have been unveiling Depay at Old Trafford, with the Dutch forward confident he is ready to make an instant impact in his first season at Old Trafford.

"I think I can score goals here, for sure," he told reporters. "I will work on that and I believe in that.

"I am excited about coming here to do my job and score goals. I am a striker so I have to score goals."

United boss Van Gaal offered this glowing tribute of his new addition as he said: He is one of the few talented players of his age.

"He is one of the greatest of his age. He is full of confidence as you can see.

'He will notice that it's not so easy here, that it is a lot harder than in the Dutch league. There is always pressure on the ball. The physical resistance is high. I have told him that so we will see how he thinks."
