Daniel Sturridge could be back playing next month
Great news for Liverpool fans this morning as reports say that the injured striker has targeted the clash with Manchester United on September 12 for his return to action.
It had been expected that it would could be November before the England striker was fit to play, following an injury hit season last term.
Sturridge hasn't played for the Reds since an FA cup tie in April and he was hit with hip, thigh and calf injuries last season, restricting him to just 18 games in total.
But now the Mirror are reporting that the 25-year old may be back in action way ahead of schedule.
After rehabbing in the US it is being reported that mid September is now being suggested as his return date.
The paper says that Sturridge will return to the UK this week to continue his recovery and he aims to be back in training with his Liverpool team-mates by the end of the month.
All going to plan the massive clash against arch rivals Manchester United on September 12 is the game Sturridge hopes to be back in contention for.
Brendan Rodgers will be hoping his chief goal threat is back as soon as possible, as he cited Sturridge's injuries last term as one of the key reasons for Liverpool failing to make the Champions League places.
