Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho will miss Tuesday's EFL Cup quarter-final at home to Leeds with suspected ankle ligament damage.

Speaking at a press conference today, Jurgen Klopp said: “You know about Philippe, we will know more this afternoon,” as the Brazilian ace was pictured on crutches heading to a private hospital in Liverpool.

Fellow Brazilian Roberto Firmino is unlikely to be risked after sustaining a minor calf problem in Saturday's win over Sunderland, while striker Daniel Sturridge is not yet back training after a similar problem.

Simon Mignolet will replace Loris Karius in goal.

Provisional squad: Mignolet, Alex-Arnold, Lucas, Klavan, Moreno, Grujic, Stewart, Brannagan, Ejaria, Mane, Origi, Karius, Lovren, Clyne, Matip, Gomez, Can, Wijnaldum, Henderson, Woodburn, Wilson, T Gomes, M Gomes.
