New Chelsea boss Antonio Conte will make a move for Christian Benteke if he fails to land first option Romelu Lukaku.

That is according to today's Times, which says that the former Chelsea striker is the man wanted by the Italian to lead his line.

The same report also suggests that he will take Diego Costa's place as the striker may be headed back to his former club Atletico Madrid.

Despite leaving Chelsea after failing to crack a starting spot, the Belgian striker is prepared to return to Stamford Bridge, especially as this time he would be the main man.

However, the Toffees are reported to be fending off a number of other clubs who want his services, including Juventus and PSG.

The price tag reportedly slapped on the striker, £65m, may scare off all comers bar the French side.

If the Blues fail to get Lukaku the Times say that his international colleague Benteke will come into their sights, and he is estimated to cost them less than half what Everton want for their striker.

Benteke had a difficult year at Anfield and it is rumoured he may be shipped out this summer by Jurgen Klopp.
