Chelsea have set their sights on signing Paris Saint-Germain striker Ezequiel Lavezzi, according to sources at Sky Italia.

Chelsea are eager to bolster their forward line after a troubled start to the season, with on-loan striker Radamel Falcao failing to make his mark and Loic Remy seemingly available for transfer if the Blues can find suitable replacements.

At the age of 30, Lavezzi would hardly be a signing for the future, with the diminutive attacking star seemingly eager to move to England after many years of being linked with top Premier League clubs.

Meanwhile, ESPN are reporting that Brazilian Alexandre Pato is close to completing a move from Corinthians to Chelsea, with the one-time rising star of the world game eager to relaunch his career after a dip in fortunes.

Guus Hiddink may only be caretaker manager at Chelsea, but he is working with the Chelsea hierarchy to remould the failing squad he inherited from Jose Mourinho in what will be his only transfer window as Blues boss.

Falcao is expected to return to Monaco after a second unsuccessful loan spell in England following last season's stint at Man Utd, while Remy is not considered to be a good fit for Chelsea following his move from QPR in the summer of 2015.
