Chelsea (and maybe Liverpool) wait for verdict on Aubameyang
Borussia Dortmund have told their striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang that he needs to make a final decision on his future imminently, with Chelsea and Liverpool both believed to be chasing the prolific marksman.
Aubameyang looked set to make a move to China's Super League last month, yet the new tax laws in the country appear to have put a halt on that potential move.
Now Chelsea have emerged as the favourites to sign the striker who has scored 85 goals in the last four seasons with Dortmund, with his price tag in excess of £60m not appearing to be an obstacle to the move.
After losing out to Manchester United in the chase to sign Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea are eager to sign a lead striker that will pave the way for Diego Costa's move to Atletico Madrid.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is also a stated admirer of Aubameyang after the pair worked together at Dortmund, with the German club keen to have a resolution on the issue in the next few days.
Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke has stressed that his club have not received official offers for the player, but hinted they will do a deal if the price is right this week.
"We will wait a few more days but not long anymore," he stated.
"I would personally prefer if he stays, but there are a few clubs on this planet where he can obviously earn more."
It appears one of the big transfer stories of the summer may gather momentum in the coming days, with Chelsea desperate to end their search for a striker by sealing a deal for Aubameyang.
