Carragher bites back at Balotelli in their Twitter war
Jamie Carragher has finally responded to Mario Balotelli's Twitter snipe in his direction, with the Liverpool legend offering up a predictably feisty repost to the outspoken Italian striker.
Carragher was an outspoken critic of Ballotelli during his woeful two-year stint at Liverpool and he continued his line of attack after the maverick hit-man joined French side Nice on a free transfer last Wednesday.
His barb suggesting Ligue 1 side Nice had paid too much to sign Balotelli even though they had not paid a transfer fee was summed up in this brilliantly provocative message from Sky Sports pundit Carragher:
Balotelli on a free is still paying over the odds by Nice.— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) August 31, 2016
Balotelli bided his time before serving up this response on Saturday, as he attempted to brand Carragher as one of the game's biggest critics:
Now Carragher has poked fun at Balotelli's claims that he has dreams of winning FIFA's Ballon d'Or prize that is awarded to the world’s best player with this loaded tweet, following his move to one of the lesser lights of French football.
I wish him well in getting the Ballon D'Or at Nice. https://t.co/qnlwCDInTi— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) September 4, 2016
There is nothing quite like two grown men throwing abuse at each other on social media, with the striker who cost Liverpool £16m to sign fighting a losing battle as he tries to take on an Anfield great who has a devoted fan base among Reds fans.
