Former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has ruled out becoming the next Liverpool manager, with Jurgen Klopp set to be appointed as the new Anfield boss imminently.

Liverpool officials have sounded out both Ancelotti and Klopp following the sacking of Brendan Rodgers on Sunday, with some on the Anfield board believed to favour a move to recruit the first of those two candidates.

Yet it seems as if Ancelotti has rebuffed those enquires from Liverpool, hastening the moves to have Klopp in place by the end of this week.

Three-times Champions League winning boss Ancelotti is currently enjoying a break from the game following his departure from Real Madrid last summer and he told an audience in London that he was not yet ready to get back to management.

"I enjoy my time now but, of course, I want to come back to manage - to work - because it is my passion," said Ancelotti.

"I want to take my time to rest, but next season I am ready."

Ancelotti has been linked with a surprise return to Chelsea in recent days, with the future of Blues boss Jose Mourinho coming under scrutiny a disastrous start to the defence of his side's Premier League title.

Whatever the future holds for Ancelotti, it does not appear to involve as stint as Liverpool manager, paving the way for Klopp to be appointed as the new Reds boss by Friday of this week.
