Republic of Ireland goal scoring great John Aldridge is backing Martin O'Neill's boys in green to get the job done against Gibraltar tonight - but he is not expecting an avalanche of goals.

Aldo is putting his €50 bet in association with Paddy Power on a victory for the Irish in the Euro 2016 Group D qualifier being played in Portugal, with a successful bet resulting in another cash windfall for Dublin's Temple Street Children's hospital.

"We all know Gibraltar are no kind of team, but they will probably be set up with a flat back 10 that will make it tricky for Ireland to get too many goals," Aldo tells us.

"Clearly we are going to get the win that will set us up for the more serious tests in the final three games of the group, but this will not be a game when Ireland get a chance to look great."

Here is Aldo's prediction for tonight's match:

Republic of Ireland to beat Gibraltar 3-0 at odds of 7/1 (potential winnings €400)
