Liverpool and Republic of Ireland goal scoring great John Aldridge is backing the Premier League big hitters to bite back on a crucial day of action on Sunday.

Leicester and Tottenham are the unlikely top two in the Premier League with just 13 games left to play and the duo get their chance to emerge as title favourites in pivotal games this weekend.

Claudio Ranieri's Leicester will confirm their title credentials of they can beat Arsenal at Emirates Stadium, while Tottenham need to banish their away day demons against the top sides in English football when they take on Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

The neutrals may be hoping that Leicester and Spurs see off their rivals, but Aldo is backing the old guard to strike back in his weekly bet in association with Paddy Power.

"You can see goals in both of the big games on Sunday and I would expect both teams to score," he tells us.

"But I expect Arsenal and Man City to come out victorious and those two will probably end up battling it out for the title.

"I have been so impressed with Leicester and Tottenham this season, but you wonder if they will stumble when the finishing line gets closer."

Here is Aldo's bet for this week, with all winnings being donated to Dublin's Temple Street Children's hospital:

€50 on Arsenal to beat Leicester and Man City to beat Tottenham on Sunday (possible winnings €177.05)
