Mario Balotelli has offered up a bitter parting shot to Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher after he sealed his free transfer to Nice on transfer deadline day.

Carragher has been an outspoken critic of Balotelli throughout his troubled spell at Liverpool, with the Anfield great offering up his own damning verdict for the Italian striker after it was confirmed his disastrous spell at Liverpool had come to an end.

That Twitter message was the latest snipe at Balotelli from Carragher, who has used his TV appearances and newspaper column to chastise a striker who did little or nothing to justify his reported £90,000-per-week wages since his arrival at the club in the summer of 2014.

"I can't believe we signed Mario Balotelli," said Carragher earlier this year.

"The thing with Balotelli is everyone always says it's the off-the-field antics, but I wouldn't care if he was doing it on the pitch.

"People tell me he's got talent but I can't remember him having a good game."

Yet Balotelli is noted for being a little more punchy on his Twitter account than he has been on the pitch of late and he has served up this typically feisty message to Carragher as he prepares to try and kick-start his career in France.

Balotelli has picked a fight with the wrong Liverpool legend as Carragher is a cherished figure among the club’s supporters, yet this message has quickly attracted huge attention.

Carragher is not alone in lambasting Balotelli and maybe the striker should reflect on his lamentable efforts an Anfield before he pokes fun at a hero who won the Champions League in his record breaking career as a Liverpool player.
