Arsenal confirmed they can grind out a result against the best teams in the Champions League as they somehow kept a clean sheet to beat Bayern Munich 2-0 at Emirates Stadium.

The possession statistics suggested Arsenal had been outplayed by Bayern Munich at Emirates Stadium as Bayern secured 73 per-cent possession at Emirates Stadium and had 21 efforts on goal.

Yet Arsenal keeper Petr Cech held firm as Arsenal edged back into contention in their Champions League group after starting with back-to-back defeats against Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiacos.

Substitute Olivier Giroud opened the scoring before a late clincher from Mesut Ozil sealed the deal for Arsenal, much to the delight of one of their heroes.
