Three players at Plymouth Albion Rugby Club have been suspended as they are investigated for an alleged sexual assault
Plymouth Albion, currently the bottom team in the second tier of English rugby, are now facing a far more serious problem than their on-pitch woes.
Three of their players, who haven't been named, have been arrested over an alleged sexual assault involving a woman on March 30.
A police spokesperson told the Plymouth Herald: “On Wednesday April 1 three males – aged 19, 23 and 23 – were arrested in Plymouth on suspicion of a serious sexual assault of a woman following an incident which took place during the early hours of Monday, March 30. All three men have been release on police bail pending further inquiries until September 16.”
The club have also released a statement on the matter. “The board of Plymouth Albion have been made aware of an alleged incident involving three players of the Plymouth Albion team," they said.
“The board has taken the decision to suspended the players concerned pending the outcome of a police investigation.”
