Matt O'Connor is leaving Leinster
Two years into a three-year contract Leinster and their head coach Matt O'Connor have parted ways.
Independent.ie are reporting that the players were told this morning after O'Connor and the Leinster top brass held a series of meetings with the coach this week.
Leinster have had a disappointing season, one that will end trophyless despite a run to the semi-finals of the European Cup. Their league form was poor and they failed to make the semi-finals of the Pro12.
The Aussie's style of play drew much criticism from fans accustomed to an attacking bent to the provinces play and that surely fed into the decision to part ways a year ahead of schedule.
Leo Cullen will now take temporary charge while the province begin the task of finding a replacement for the man that won them the PRO12 title just a year ago.
