Brian O'Driscoll has joined the chorus of experts heaping praise on Pat Lam's Connacht side.

The Irish rugby legend was in Galway for an Off The Ball and Heineken event ahead of the big game between Connacht and Glasgow this weekend.

A win for the home province at the Sportsground would guarantee a home semi-final for Connacht in the PRO12, meaning a much better shot at the making the final.

And though BOD has been very impressed by Lam's side, when it came to picking a winner this weekend, he opted for the vistors.

“To play the 15 man game you have to have the players to be able to do that," said the record-breaking centre turned pundit.

"That is what is becoming apparent (with Connacht),” O’Driscoll insisted. “It is happening naturally rather than the system being forced on them. That is why they have been able to play with that freedom and why they've scored some incredible tries.

“Glasgow are the form team, and have been pulling teams apart, even good sides like Scarlets. You have two good offloading teams and it should make for a brilliant game. However I think Glasgow will win.”

However, another former Ireland star, Stephen Ferris, was backing the home side.

Ferris said: “I'm in Galway so I have to say this! But Connacht have such a good fanbase and they are hard to turn over - I'm going to go for a Connacht win.”

The group were speaking at the Newstalk Off The Ball & Heineken event at Radisson Blu Hotel, Galway. Through Heineken Rugby Club we celebrate and reward supporters who make the game what it is.
