UPDATED - Rodgers Out banner flies over Anfield
A handful of Liverpool supporters have hired a plane and flown a banner over Anfield calling for manager Brendan Rodgers to be sacked and the return of old boss Rafael Benitez.
In an echo of the protests made by Manchester United fans trying to get boss David Moyes out of their club last year, irate Reds supporters organised the publicity stunt to try and put pressure on Rodgers to be sacked.
Rumours that a the fans calling for Rodgers to be ousted were planning this kind of visual display of discontent have been circulating all week on social media sites and fans attending the game against QPR at Anfield saw the plane fly over early in the match.
It remains to be seen whether the effort will have any impact on Rodgers' future at Liverpool, but the memories of last season's push for the Premier League title certainly seem distant for the Irish tactician now.
Reaction to the banner on Twitter has appeared to offer support to the Liverpool boss, with these comments confirming many were bemused by the stunt.
