Reports today indicate that Paul O’Connell is to finish up his playing career with a two-year stint at French side Toulon.

According to the Irish Times a deal has been agreed with the Irish captain for him to join the European champions after the World Cup for the remainder of the 2015/’16 season and the 2016/’17 season.

The move is pending approval by Munster and the IRFU as O’Connell has another year left on his contract.

Despite this he is expected to make an announcement next week confirming his attentions.

O’Connell has often talked of his wish to play in France, and recently spoke of his desire to step out of the Munster “bubble” for a while, having played with the club for the past 14 seasons.

Paul O'Connell was been voted the Player of the 2015 Six Nations Rugby Championship earlier in the year and is set to captain Ireland into the forthcoming Rugby World Cup in England.
