O'Kane earns Ireland call-up
Martin O'Neill has named his squad for Ireland's upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers against Gibraltar and Georgia.
Eunan O'Kane and Adam Rooney have both been included by O'Neill who reduced his provisional squad of 37 to 28.
Neither O'Kane nor Rooney have played for the senior team before but both have been in impressive form for their clubs recently.
O'Kane has caught the eye with some fine performances for Premier League side Bournemouth, while Rooney has continued the goalscoring form that saw him earn the SPL Golden Boot with Aberdeen last season.
Murphy was selected to start the crucial qualifier at home to Scotland in June ahead of Shane Long but the Ipswich striker misses the chance to cement a regular place in the team through injury.
Kevin Doyle's form with Colorado Rapid in the MLS has seen him earn a recall to the squad.
O'Kane's Bournemouth team-mate Harry Arter, goalkeeper Kieren Westwood and Murphy's Ipswich teammate David McGoldrick were among the others to miss out on the squad.
Ireland squad: David Forde, Shay Given, Darren Randolph, Richard Keogh, Marc Wilson, Seamus Coleman, Cyrus Christie, John O’Shea, Alex Pearce, Ciaran Clark, Paul McShane, James McCarthy, Jeff Hendrick, Stephen Ward, Glenn Whelan, Eunan O’Kane, Aiden McGeady, James McClean, Robbie Brady, Anthony Pilkington, Stephen Quinn, David Meyler, Wes Hoolahan, Robbie Keane, Shane Long, Jon Walters, Kevin Doyle, Adam Rooney.
