“Anyone who spits at me will be eating their supper through a straw”
Irish International Jon Walters has issued a firm warning to any opponent who is prone to spitting: “Anyone who spits at me will be eating their supper through a straw”.
A recent quarrel involving Jonny Evans and Papiss Cisse - who have been charged with spitting at one another - has got the attention of the Stoke man.
Speaking in an interview with Talksport, Walters would not tolerate that kind of behaviour.
“As a player you take anything off the ball; punches and kicks that are meant to wind you up.
“Little things like that go on in any match, but spitting is pretty low. If it happened to me and someone spat at my face or towards me then I think he’d be eating his supper through a straw that night.
“I wouldn’t be happy. That is the lowest of the low.”
Many people were disgusted by the alleged behaviour of the pair during their game this week, most notably Robbie Savage, who called the incident a disgrace.
