Sensational final round by Rory McIlory sees him end PGA drought
Rory McIlroy ended his wait for a PGA Tour win in some style, nabbing the Deutchse Bank Championship thanks to a sensational final round.
The Northern Irishman won at the Irish Open earlier this year but this was his first victory in America since claiming the Wells Fargo Championship in May of 2015.
McIlroy was well worth his win today, carding seven birdies and one bogey to card a 65 as he pulled away from Paul Casey to win by two strokes on -15.
It was a dramatic turnaround for the four-time Major champion, with McIlroy turning a six-shot final-round deficit into a two shot win.
The key moment of the round came at the end of the front nine when McIlroy birdied seven, eight and nine.
He bogeyed 17 - his first dropped shot of the day - to offer his English rival a glimmer of hope before rebounding at the last to record one final birdie to seal his win.
He will take home a cheque for roughly €1.37m.
