GAA change match times following Ireland's win against Italy
The Leinster GAA Council has switched the start times of Sunday’s Croke Park double bill in order to avoid a clash with Ireland’s last sixteen match against France at Euro 16.
Less than 15 minutes after the final whistle between Ireland and Italy sounded the Council announced that the first football semi-final between Kildare and Westmeath will now have a 4.15pm start while the second semi-final between Dublin and Meath will start at 6.30pm. Both matches will be shown live on RTE 1
The Ireland v France match begins at 2pm Irish time. While the clash is likely to affect the attendance the fact that the throw-in times have been moved should lessen the impact somewhat.
According to a GAA source once the possibility of the clash arose they had worked out a contingency plan. Originally the two games in Croke Park were due to start at 2pm and 4pm respectively.
