CASTLEBAR MITCHELS 2-10 COROFIN 0-11

All-Ireland football champions Corofin of Galway have been beaten in the Connacht final by Mayo's Castlebar Mitchels.

Castlebar were the last team to beat Corofin, two years ago, and they repeated the trick after a thoroughly dominant display.

The sides were level (1-05 to 0-08) after an even first half which saw Man-of-the-match Barry Moran raise the green flag for Castlebar.

Neil Douglas got the decisive score of the game for Castlebar midway through the second half when his bullet strike found the top corner of the Corofin net.

Both sides ended the game with 14 men after Corofin's Martin Farragher and Castlebar's Neil Lydon received their marching orders.

Castlebar kept their opponents at bay with relative ease in the closing stages to wrap up a fully deserved win.

Corofin manager Stephen Rochford is now a virtual certainty to be named as Mayo senior football manager this week to replace the outsed pair of Pat Holmes and Noel Connelly.
