Ireland’s two boxers in action today at the European Games in Baku have advanced to the last sixteen.

London Olympian Adam Nolan had a comfortable 30-27 across the board win over Albanian welterweight Alban Bequri.

The Bray based Garda will now meet Dario Morello who received a first round bye on Saturday for a place in the quarter finals.

Morello lost to Ireland’s Stephen Donnelly on a split decision in the World Boxing Series in Italy last April and also lost to Stephen Broadhurst in an Ireland v Italy Youth international in Ireland in 2010.

Meanwhile, Portlaoise middleweight Michael O’Reilly totally outclassed Croatian opponent Pol Sanjin Vrgoc to advance.

The judges’ scoring (30-27; 30-25, 30-27) reflected the extent of the Irishman’s dominance.

Sean McComb will be the only Irish boxer in action tomorrow.

The Belfast lightweight meets Tymur Beliak of the Ukraine at 8:30am.
