Bohemians' Jake Kelly celebrates after scoring his side's fourth goal

Four goals in the first half sent Bohemians on their way to an emphatic 5-1 victory over Dublin rivals St Pat's at Dalymount Park.

Bohs hadn't found the net in over 550 minutes of play but, incredibly, they were 2-0 inside four minutes after goals from Roberto Lopes and striker Ismahil Akinade.

The home side went 3-0 up in the 13th minute when Jake Kelly broke through the centre of the Pat's defence before beating Brendan Clarke.

Bohs put the result beyond all doubt in the 31st minute when Kelly grabbed his second goal of the game from close range.

Pat's were simply not at the races and Liam Buckley's men could count themselves fortunate that the scoreline was not even more grim at half time.

The visitors managed to limit the damage in the second half and they pulled a goal back when full back Ian Bermingham headed home from a corner.

Bohs responded by grabbing a fifth goal to rub salt in the Saints' wound when centre back Seán Hoare was red carded and Kurtis Byrne converted the resulting spot kick.

The result sees Bohs climb to eighth in the table while Pat's remain in fifth spot.
