you are here: home Pub Spy

NOW here is a real pub. Sitting on the banks of the Garavogue River in the heart of Sligo is T.J Kennedys.
The entrance is very modern and continental style, but when you step in you are stepping back a century. It has a very dark brown timber counter and matching panels. The bar fittings and even the old snugs have been retained as they were decades ago.
It's a very extensive premises that goes right back, but when nature called our fitness was tested to the full.
The toilets are upstairs and we thought we would never reach them, we passed a smoking room on the way.
The urinals and the sinks are either a new design, or replicas of a very old type but they are the last word. The new-type dryer is fantastic. The old ceiling design is worth seeing and the antique mirror is just beautiful, as are the stained glass panels in the front of the building. To cap it all the Guinness was superb.
