Irish rower Sanita Puspure cruises into next round of women's single sculls
Irish single sculler Sanita Puspure has cruised into the next round of the women's single sculls at the Rio Olympics.
Together with cyclists Nicolas Roche and Dan Martin, the Latvian-born sculler had the honour of being the first Irish competitors in action at the 2016 Games.
The 36-year-old, who won a bronze medal at the European championships in Germany last May, finished second in heat 2 of the women's singles sculls in 1:58.97.
The top three finishers automatically qualified for the second round on Tuesday.
